Where Did The Idea For Bootcamp Come From?
The idea came about during our team planning last May. We were....gasp....a letter a week crowd. I KNOW! I KNOW! We were tired of still "introducing" a letter in April or May. It didn't work. It doesn't work. And it really doesn't make sense. We decided to try something new. We decided to do all 26 letters in 26 days at the beginning of the year. We decided to call it BOOTCAMP because it was going to be fast and furious! So BOOTCAMP was born out of necessity for us to try something new that we hoped would be better for our students.

Establishing a peaceful and cooperative learning environment for young learners is possible through the strategic teaching of life-skills. One such life-skill is empathy. When any human is able to feel compassion for others, or to see another’s point of view, this leads to a cooperative, peaceful environment. Empathy is the keep to this peace.
Establishing a classroom yoga practice can help to create an atmosphere of family, compassion and empathy. You don’t have to be a yoga expert, though a little experience is helpful. I started practicing yoga with my transitional kindergarten students after taking a class and getting certified by YOGAed, an organization that teaches teachers how to incorporate yoga into classroom routine.
